Descriptive: A&M expected to struggle against teams in the SEC. After their lost to Arkansas after an 18 point lead at halftime, and giving up 25 points; they also gave up 510 yards passing. Some analysts and experts say that the struggle against SEC teams for A&M will persist and only get worst once they join the SEC. They lost to a mediocre team in the SEC, they will almost certainly lose to the powerhouses like LSU and Alabama.
Questions: What is the first thought that pops to minds when I say SEC football? Is it powerhouses? Is it the possessor of the last five BCS championships? Is it the multitude of heisman trophy winners? Whatever you think, it is most likely that it indicates that they are the best conference in NCAA. And what are the cons to A&M joining them. Most people think that this is a good move, but is it? The first part to explore is the fame A&M has developed as a winning football program, a program of winners. This program now in in jeopardy of suffering its first losing season next year. By moving to the SEC they are exposed to other powerful teams that they might not beat, like LSU, Alabama, and even Florida.
Compare and Contrast: For most of Texas history we have played against our #1 rival … Texas A&M, and though we have had our ups and downs, we still love to play them. Our blood in our veins yearns for the blood of the Aggies and we know that the feeling is mutual for the Aggies as well. But from this new conference realignment and Texas A&M leaving for the SEC, we feel like we can’t play the team we were destined to be with for eternity. This blood lust and love has transcended almost a hundred years and has become culture but the sudden abandonment of it is quite probable.
I like your Questions lead. It shows how different the SEC is from the Big 12, which may cause A&M to struggle. It is obvious what you view point is, and you get your message across.
ReplyDeleteThe compare and contrast scares me. The descripitve is the best though. It is easy to understand and I like it.
ReplyDeleteI like the compare and contrast because it highlights the points and it makes me feel this shouldn't happen, the other two had grammar mistakes
ReplyDeletei really liked your 2nd lead about what first comes to mind when we think about the SEC. I like the lead because it immediately gets me thinking and pulled in to the article
