It's been a heck of a ride...

But now it's time to say goodbye to Ezine. I gotta say that I had a great time in this class, as we did so much and had so much fun. I really liked working in a group that helped me and was always there for support. I had a great time doing the assignments, since they offered so many new opportunities to me and were a lot of fun. I got to meet new people from this and find out about new topics and such. I also really liked working in In design, Photo shop, Illustrator, and especially POWERPOINT. Some suggestions for the future Ezine people would be just do your work on time and make sure it's long enough, cause filler text doesn't look that good. Always take the extra step and do corrections and always strive to do the extra credit. It helps a bunch in the long term. And lastly, for all my fellow group/class mates, here is a list of class inside jokes.
  • "The Black Part"
  • "So, why did you use a serif font?"
  • "Not hating on Tim Tebow"
  • "BEARS VS CHARGERS"
  • "Megan's Sweater vest post."
  • "Our bio pictures (C'mon, They're the best)"
  • "So, how about them Colts/Aggies?"
  • "Bad at baseball (Evan)"
  • "Anime, Video games, and DUBSTEP???"
  • "Felix's blog posts"
  • "Filler text in Extreme Recreation"
  • "The best picture of all time."
  • "Doing things in PowerPoint"
  • "Geometry vs Ezine"
  • "Western Princess"
  • "What's an NCAA?'
  • "How 'narcistitic' I am."
  • "F*** it.- Extreme Recreation"
  • "AY-YA! JACCCKKKKKKKIE! UNCLE NEED A MUD BATH!"
  • "Aryaman (Nepali Boy) is not Tibeten"
  • "Savorish...nuff said there."
  • "Derrick Rose is #1"
  • "Joey Tribbiani in Replay"
  • "That one picture of rowdy..."
  • "Magcloud.com"
  • "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!(Walker Voice)"
  • And last but certainly not least "Cliff McGregor"

So, how about them Colts?

This season has been a heck of an exciting season for the Indianapolis Colts. They’ve done the unexplainable by having quite a surprising season. They started with a forgivable 34-7 loss to the Houston Texans. Oh well. Next, they played the Browns and lost again, but this time with a respectable score of 27-19. At least they were getting better. Then they lost the next 4 games with respectable amounts of points. But afterwards, they started going down again. First, they lost to the Saints 62-7. After that, they lost to Tennessee 27-10, Atlanta 31-7, and Jacksonville 17-3. They lost their last 2 games with a slight bit of dignity, but not much.

The Colts field. From filckr.

If you noticed the recurring pattern to their season, it basically consisted of losing a game, and then losing the game after that. “They are as tough a defensive unit as we’ll face,” Caldwell said. “We’ve still got a lot of football left to go, and I just think that incremental, steady improvement is important for us.” “If we can improve a little bit more, I think we’ll be on a good course.” For more info, go to Colts.com.

Hey, how're the aggies doing?

The A&M Logo from Flickr

Well, it’s almost that time of year again, when NCAA football comes to a close. For the Aggies, all rivalries and memories will be forgotten, while new ones will be made; as A&M moves to the SEC. It’ll be great for them, but let’s look at this football season.
The Aggies started out the season win two wins against Southern Methodist and Idaho. Then they lost two very, extremely, deeply, important and crucial games against Oklahoma State and Arkansas. They continued to lose games (Excluding TEXAS TECH!!!, Baylor, Iowa State [Who almost everyone beat] and Kansas). They were defeated horribly though by Missouri, Kansas State and especially Oklahoma (41-25 OUCH). Then came the final Texas game, where they LLLLLLLLOOOOOSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTT with a field goal by Texas.
Overall, they’re season was decent, with an OK record of 6-6. The Aggies have had better seasons though. Actually, they’ve also had much worse seasons. One was in 2003 where they lost 8 games and only won 4. That year, Texas beat them 46-15 and Texas Tech beat them 58-29. Later in 2008, they had the same record as 2003, and lost to Texas 49-9 and Texas Tech 43-25. But now this will never happen again, due to their moving. Oh well… For more information about the Aggies go to Texas A&M. com.

By The Way, I don't mean to be biased, it's just my job. Sorry if I offended any Aggies.

leads and nut graph

For Holly Howell, a normal day consists of playing with her dog, teaching Kindergarten, and being one an Extraordinary soccer Coach. “I coach English style. As they say it, they “Put is on the deck”. Basically, play simply to feet direct, play the way you face, and never force the ball. If the ball’s not on, pull it back, recycle and try a different avenue.”, she says.

She coaches a girls soccer team at soccer zone south and is very good at it. She herself has been coaching soccer for 3 years and is an excellent soccer player, as she has been playing for 21 years. She says about her players, “In a quality soccer player, I find dedication, play from the heart, have desire to want to be there.” Her team is called the cupcakes and is very good. “Last year, we did well. We were league champs, and our players got a t-shirt and bag. The good thing is that they don’t always give a trophy but stuff that can be used, which makes them work harder because it’s tangible, gives sense of pride.”, she says.

The 2011 NFL Season

Photo from Flikr
It’s a great year to be watching the NFL. We’ve had a share of great teams do what they do every season and play entertaining games. This has led to a great line of separation between good teams and great teams. A clear example of this is the NFC NORTH. You can have the best team in the entire NFL, the Green Bay Packers, a couple of good teams, the Bears and lions, and then you have the Vikings with a 2-7 record. Although this may seem bad, their record is peanuts compared to a 0-10 depressing record for the Colts. On the other hand though, there are some excellent teams who are playing even better than last year. An example is the Packers, who have already won 9 games and lost none, giving them the chance to be back to back Super Bowl champs. There have also been teams that have done excellent in the beginning of the season, but have steadily decreased in quality. One such team could be the Patriots, whose season started great and has steadily declined after 2 losses to the Steelers and Giants. There are also teams that have started poorly and have improved very much, such as the Broncos, as they recovered for 3 straight losses. What’s in store isn’t known for the super bowl yet, but it will be a heck of a game for sure.

Boxing Legend Joe Frazier dies at 67

Boxing ledgend Joe Frazier. From Flickr
I know we usually don’t report about boxing, but this is kind of a big deal. It’s an interesting story of a legend that goes like this…

Back in the days of my parents, Boxing was a big thing. Nowadays, people don’t pay as much attention to it. But one famous Boxing hero back in the old days was Joe Frazier. He was only 5 ft 11 ½, but he was in the heavyweight category. After winning the Middle Atlantic Golden Gloves heavyweight championships 3 years in a row, he decided to go for the gold. And after breaking his thumb in the third round of the 1964 Olympics, he had to fight only once more. And then he won it for America. Afterwards, he went professional in 1965. He had a total of 37 fights, and only lost 3. Of the 37, he beat many other boxing legends, such as Muhammad Ali, Buster Mathis, and Bob Foster. His career ended in 1981 when he retired. He was later put in the International Boxing Hall of fame. Sadly though, he was diagnosed with liver cancer in September of this year, and later died in November. He will be greatly missed.

Last LBJ Game Before the playoffs... SAD

An LBJ Jaguar
This week is the final game for the LBJ Jaguars before the playoffs. It’s a sad day, the last few Black on Blacks, crazy T-Shirts, and a whole bunch of fun. It is also the final time for the 2011 LBJ marching band to give their show, which is something to cherish and behold. It was a great season. We can all say that. It the overview of the games, we lost to Hutto in our first game 26 - 43. In our Homecoming game versus Manor, we won 22 – 21. We lost our next two games to Connally and Hendrickson 40 – 52 and 16 – 49. However, we killed the next 4 games, which included Lanier, Travis, Crockett, and of Course… MACALLUM!!! These teams were beaten with scores of 45-7, 66-0, 54-7 and 26-22. We have a current 3-5 game ratio, which is ok. We can probably beat Reagan, as this is our other main rivalry and we are pretty pumped up about it. And it’ll make the playoffs so much more awesome. If you are going to that game, make sure to watch “Voices of Celebration, the marching band show. More information at LBJFootball.
